Celebrity MUA Masterclass – Liverpool

Hey everyone!

I can’t remember if I mentioned in any previous posts, but I’ve started a new job 5 weeks ago now, working in business development.

I’m still doing makeup and have a few plans in the pipeline for it so do bare with me!

Today I was a guest at the Celebrity MUA Masterclass after winning 2 complimentary tickets worth £100 each via an Instagram competition they ran. The two artists demo’ing were Gary Cockerel and Alexis Stone – not two names I specifically know but after looking them up I was so excited to see them!

The Demo’s themselves were really interesting and the artists so talented – I picked up some really valuable tips. Unlike some masterclasses I’ve been to, the view and sound we’re really clear no matter where you sat. I was so thankful of that, one I went to you literally could not hear a thing as it was in a busy bar/restaurant with only a curtain between the Masterclass and the actual restaurant! We all ended up chatting as we couldn’t see anything!

The day didn’t go without any glitches but it’s understandable with it being their first event. The heating had broken in the building (not their fault at all!) but it was in the minus’ outside and snowing – far too cold to be sat in a massive, cold, high ceiling building for 6 hours odd!

Katie Price was supposed to be a special guest (I think getting her makeup done by Gary?) which I’m sure a lot of people bought their ticket for this exact purpose – however Katie was not at the event and this wasn’t addressed by the organisers at any point. It didn’t really bother me as I’m not exactly a fan and I didn’t even pay for my ticket anyway but had I paid £100-£120 pounds to see her, I probably would have been quite disgruntled.

If I could suggest some pointers for their next event (I do actually have an events management degree remember!) I would say….

  • They need some signage as it was extremely hard to find the venue. There’s multiple doors to a huge building.
  • Hand out goodie bags on the way out – it’ll stop people leaving early and also we thought we weren’t getting one as they’d stopped putting them on the chairs like they had earlier!
  • Don’t allow guests to come in and out as they please throughout the demos – people were quite rude and disruptive!
  • Extend the time or decrease the amount of demos – the artists were rushed and still went well over an hour over the stated finishing time.

Over all the event was a delight and the demos were so informative. Great choice of artists and despite the cold, the venue was ideal for clear viewing. The goodie bags were fantastic – including Doll Lashes, Unicorn Lashes/lipgloss, Kat Von D Tattoo Liner, MAC Pro palette, Peggy Sage concealer and lipliner, ProBlo hair masks, Sample Beauty brushes and some glitter pots! That’s a really fab selection and I can’t wait to use them and let you know how I find them!

I love picking up application tips and product recommendations to make sure I’m constantly learning and bringing my clients the best work I can offer! Every artist continues to learn throughout their career and I think it’s so important to pick up tips from a large variety of different artists as there is endless techniques to pick up on!

Miss Scuba UK: Red Carpet Ready Photoshoot

Today, I’ve taken a road trip down to Lincoln for a very glamorous Photoshoot. In August I will be taking part in the annual Miss Scuba UK pageant. It’s way more than your standard beauty pageant – the main focus of the competition is marine conservation and taking care of our beaches and sea life. On the night, we will find out the top 5 in no order, who then go to Cyprus AND Egypt to scuba dive and for a girly holiday! The ultimate winner will then be decided and will head out to Malaysia for the Miss Scuba International pageant! This is an amazing opportunity and I’m so privileged to be part of it.

The shoot was at Red Carpet Ready – an amazing dress shop that’s stocks a wide array of beautiful designer gowns and dresses. When I say amazing – I mean you just would not believe it! It’s set in beautiful grounds and has three separate sections, each full of the latest designs. There’s something for everyone.

These are just a few snaps of what’s on offer at Red Carpet Ready!

A group image of some of the finalists. Can you spot me?

This is the stunning Pia Michi gown I wore for the shoot – it’s understated but still glam due to the intricate sparkles and unique back. This particular gown is slightly too big on me, but you can imagine the amazing silhouette that this dress can create.

We had a few group shots in different locations on the grounds. The sun was out in full force and my sensitive eyes were watering all over the place so I hope my images don’t come out all squinty! It was a great giggle though. I can’t wait to see the images when they’re released – keep an eye out on Instagram!

You can purchase these gowns and many, many more at Red Carpet Ready or visit the store if you’re ever in the Lincoln area. They’ve just had a new showroom fitted with crisp white walls and marble floors with stunning big mirrors – perfect for a few selfies!

Big thank you’s go out to Jaime-Lee, Jill and Sue (and the rest of the team) at Miss Scuba UK, Kirsty and the ladies at Red Carpet Ready, Tom Parnell – the brilliant photographer for the day, all of the girlies and of course my Mum for driving the long journey for me!

Soleil Tan De Chanel – Bronzing Makeup Base REVIEW.

The weather is (kind of) starting to get a little better in the UK now we’re well into May, so I think it’s nice to add some warmth into makeup looks to give a bronzed effect.

In my last post, I mentioned how I had my makeup done at Chanel for my grad ball. The cost of the makeover is redeemable on purchases so I kept a close eye on what the MUA used, so I could decide which item I fancied taking home.

I had heard of Soleil Tan De Chanel before and it did intruige me as its a creamy texture, so I was glad when she took it out to use on me. I suffer from quite dry skin if I’m not careful so I have to keep my skin constantly hydrated. Also I love a dewy look rather than matte so powders don’t work too well on my skin. This is a creamy (almost mousse) texture which is quite luxurious on the skin.

Although this product is cream, it’s applied with a brush. I used Real Techniques contour brush to apply and finished with Real Techniques buffing brush. There’s so many ways you can use this product which makes it so versatile. Firstly, you can add a thin layer to the entire face before foundation for a subtle glow, you can mix with your foundation to go up a shade, use as a contour or bronzer and finally, as a full body tan on top of body lotion.

For this look, I used a light layer before my foundation and finished with gentle contouring on my cheek bones, forehead and nose. I just used it really naturally to begin with but you can build this product up for a more dramatic look.

It feels so soft and dewy on the skin and creates a flawless finish. As I said, it’s so versatile so it’s definitely worth the £32 in my opinion but I’ve heard there’s a dupe by Bourjois so it might be a good option to try that first and see how you get on with a cream before splurging on Chanel.

I should add that I’ve had Soleil Tan De Chanel in the powder form previously and loved it and it lasted for so long! I have high expectations of how long this will last as it’s used so minimally and is a good sized pot.

You can purchase at any Chanel counter or online Here

Other products I used:

Armani Luminous Silk Foundation.

MAC lip liner in Spice.

Dior Addict Gloss in Dolly Pink.

Dreamweave Lash Magnet Mascara.

Natural brows.
