I just sat down with a big mug of tea to update my blog with what I’m up to. I sometimes struggle to sit back and find the time to reflect on my going’s-on and share them but it’s important, especially as I’d love to look back in the future and see how far I’ve progressed.
Today I worked on an exciting project with The Protein Bakery which was organised by Ledigo PR. We had a great team, with @hairbysophie _m on the hair, @jadekaty and @southweather84 on photography and myself creating the makeup look. Then model for the day was the director of The Protein Bakery, Laura Jackson. She thought up the concept in her own kitchen and is now set to sell her products in January 2018, launching in supermarkets and major online companies.
A little bit about the company…
So, how many of you get cravings on a regular basis for cakes, cookies, donuts etc? Especially when you’re on a diet! The Protein Bakery has created a new concept of protein fortified goodies to curb cravings for real (a bog standard protein bar just doesn’t cut it) whilst remaining clean and adding to your daily protein intake. I have sampled the range and I have to say they genuinely taste like your normal baked goods – the Salted Caramel Cookie is unreal! They don’t have that protein after taste that you get with so many protein products.
What I really love about the range is that it appeals to so many people. So many people can feel intimidated by the fitness and protein industry and feel that maybe the usual protein bars and shakes etc we see in stores are aimed at uber-toned, fitness addicts. That’s where The Protein Bakery is different and appeals to EVERYONE whether you’re sculpting your six pack or simply trying to make healthier choices.
Back to the makeup…
We wanted a ‘Nigella’ feel to the look so we kept it all matte and neutrals. I used YSL foundation and brown and nude eyeshadows from Kiko Milano. The brows were filled with light strokes of MAC Spike and brushed with a clear brow gel for a soft, ‘barely done’ look. I didn’t use any contouring or highlighting for this look as I really wanted it to remain fresh and simple, so I simply defined the cheek bones and lifted the skin tone using Dior blusher. The look was finished with some light strip-lashes, Charlotte Tilbury lipstick in Penelope Pink and set with Sport FX setting spray. The final look was girly and soft and perfect for the day time but with that extra glam!
Keep an eye out on The Protein Bakery’s Instagram to be the first to get your hands on the products and the chance to win some competitions they have coming up!
