Jane Iredale Glow Time Full-Coverage BB Cream Review.

I’ve recently been sent the Jane Iredale BB Cream to test and review, and have used it for the past few weeks to reveal the most honest and clear review of how I found the product. (All opinions are my own, this is an honest review of the product).

I apply the BB cream first with my MAC foundation brush, then I continue to blend it with the Real Techniques beauty blender. My first thought when I started to apply was HOW AMAZING the coverage is for a BB cream. I’d compare this with MAC studio fix for coverage. The BB creams I usually use have quite a light coverage and aren’t really suitable for me on a daily basis. This however really does have a truly heavy coverage whilst still feeling light on the skin.

At first, I wasn’t sure the shade was right for me (BB6) as it seemed quite yellow but as it blended in, I realised it was ideal for me and totally brightened up my complexion. I always go for yellow tones on my skin rather than pinks/beige.

I have reasonably dry skin so a lot of foundations are a no-no for me because they can create dry lines and visible pores. That’s why I’m so happy to have found a hydrating mineral BB cream that allows me to wear a full-coverage look without the negative side effects!

To put this BB cream to the test, I’ve worn it for a few different daily activities to see how it fairs.

1: A Day At Work – as you may know, I’m a full-time model so when I’m working I don’t tend to wear my own makeup. However, I do occasionally cover at my parents business which is a children’s day-nursery. I wore this BB cream for the full day to see how it stayed on for a 9-6 shift. The coverage stayed neat, however it had gotten a little patchy on my nose by lunch time and my T-Zone was a little oily. I think this is because it’s so hydrating so I don’t really mind because it’s sort of one or the other for me. I’d rather a quick dab with my beauty blender than the dryness.

2: A Work-Out – yep, I’m one of those girls who likes a bit of natural makeup on in the gym. I’m not talking eyeliner and contour etc, just a dab of BB Cream and a slick of mascara. And nope, it doesn’t make me work any less harder and nope it (generally) doesn’t end up a patchy mess on my face (have you never heard of setting spray?). So, I’ve been wearing the BB cream for the gym and even after a sweaty, intense workout with my trainer, my face stays pretty much perfect still. 10/10 for a workout foundation because it’s mineral based and won’t clog your pores like a normal foundation!

3: In The Pool and Sauna – okay this one was more for the blog post, but I did keep it on for a relax in the pool and sauna post-workout. Obviously my face gets wet in this process so it was interesting to come out of the pool and see that although the coverage had massively decreased, it was all even and my face wasn’t patchy at all!

4: On Holiday – I never use regular Suncream on my face on holiday because it just clogs it up so much. Plus I avoid sun on my face so it always ends up much more pale than my body so I like a light coverage with an SPF. I used this BB cream in Marbella (where everyone is glam so makeup is a must during the day!) and with its SPF 25, it did the job perfectly.

So, all in all it has been a fantastic product, one that I’ve recommended to all of my friends who’ve gone out and bought it and love it as much as I do! It’s definitely my go-to product now and it’s a total staple in my makeup bag. I was also sent their blusher and lip balm which I use all the time also. The 3 together just create the most lovely, soft makeup look with the delicate pinks and gorgeous textures.

Let me know how you get on! Hels X

Joico Shampoo and Conditioner Review.

Every girl experiences that parched hair feeling at some point in their life. Unfortunately for us blondes, this can be quite frequently!

Since beggining the Olaplex treatments my hair has felt better (I can tell when it needs doing again though!) but I still find my hair can feel so dry and rough sometimes and even soaking it in oils doesn’t always restore the silkiness and shine.

One of the perks of your hairdresser being your best friend is that you can always call upon them for hair tips and discounted hair products! So, my girl Amy at The Edge in Cheshire purchased me some salon-quality shampoo and conditioner from the wholesalers to try and restore some shine to my lacklustre locks.

In struts Joico K-Pak. The gold bottle immediately makes you think of luxurious flowing blonde locks, so that’s a good start. I was already excited about these products as Amy used them on me in the salon and I know she only uses the best. I’ve been using them for about a week now and I can feel the difference already.

The shampoo is clarifying, which means it removed the product build-up from your hair if you leave it on for a minute or so. This is especially good for me when I’m home from a shoot where my hair has been coated in anything from hairspray to baby oil to glitter. However, a clarifying shampoo is beneficial to anyone since our hair picks up so much dirt and oils naturally through the day and many of us add oils, heat defence products etc to our hair routines.

The conditioner is repairing for damaged hair. Even if you think your hair is in great condition, it’s actually getting damaged each day so a repairing, nourishing formula is ideal for all hair types. For extra protection is replenishment, I’d highly recommend the Olaplex treatment which I’ve discussed in a previous post!

All in all, I’m really liking both the shampoo and the conditioner and I feel my hair is clean and fresh whilst remaining softer and silkier.

The cheapest I’ve found online is £11.70 at AllBeauty for the conditioner and £10.95 for the shampoo also at AllBeauty

Bargain Buys: Get The Best For Your Money.

Like many girls, there’s an endless list of things I want (need). Literally, it’s never ending because as soon as I get my hands on something, I see the next thing for my wish list. I know most girls are the same so I’ve compiled a few bargains I’ve seen recently so you can reep the benefits too. I’ll continue with these posts if you guys like them so make sure you let me know via the comments/insta/twitter.

Glamour Magazine

You can get some AMAZING free gifts in magazines every so often and I find Glamour does the best! Last month it was a tube of a new St Tropez tan and this month there’s a range of Model Co makeup! They’ve worked with Model Co previously and I remember getting a lip liner I LOVED but then begrudged paying £16 for another when it ran out as I knew how cheap I had it previously. So you can imagine my excitement when I saw it in this months issue for only ONE POUND. Obviously I bought two. Also there’s an eyeliner, mascara and lipgloss available worth a combined £55. I’m now on the hunt to find the gloss! Always check out the magazine freebies when you’re at the supermarket or newsagents. Primark

I’m sure you already know the bargain store that is Primark. But did you know they’ve bought out a small range of Perspex beauty organisers? You know the ones that are everywhereeeee on Instagram and allow you to show off all your designer makeup? I needed a new one for my ever expanding MAC lipstick collection and was so happy to see this bargain one for £2 when id usually expect to pay between £15-£60 (depending on size).

The top left holder is the Primark one, that’s holding the foundations, lip liners and 6 lipsticks.

Also from Primark, these cute little bikinis that cost me something ridiculous like £2 or £3 and were perfect for lazy days on the beach when you don’t need to dress up too much! How can you argue for that price?

Zara Sale

I wasn’t even aware of this until I went into my agency and all of the bookers had huge boxes delivered! Head to the Zara website and there’s TONES of stuff in the sale. Grab yourself a bargain!

Spotify Premium

I’m new to Spotify so recently took advantage of their free week trial of Premium. I was pleasantly surprised by their offer of another 3 months for just 0.99p – how could I refuse that? This offer is on until June 30th so if you’re new to Spotify also, take advantage of this amazing offer! Have you spotted any more bargains, freebies or money saving tips? Mini Drugstore Makeup Haul

I will be the first to admit, I can be a bit of a makeup snob! I’m absolutely aware that there’s some amazing dupes, but I don’t get the same buzz from a Superdrug or Boots bag, that I do a Selfridges or Chanel one (don’t try and lie and say you do). That being said, I do like to dabble with some high street/drugstore brands for those non-necessity items or ones that I won’t be using on a daily basis. We all love a bargain.

I took a wander into town today and stopped by the 3 for 2 offer in Superdrug. There was a couple of basic things I needed but as always, I spent ages browsing allllll of the makeup. I’m always drawn to the MUA stand, they seem to always be up to date with the latest beauty hypes and they’re popping up on blogs all over the place. Not to mention it’s incredibly cheap!

I decided to try out their radiance under eye concealer as soon as I’ve bought it home. It doesn’t leave fine line creases like a lot of concealers I’ve tried which is good, however I hadn’t realised there’s a light shimmer to it. So I will see how I get on with it properly over the next few days! I’m not too worried at just £2.99. Also from MUA, an eyeshadow called ‘Golden’. I’m always a fan of warm colours on the face with golds and bronzes being my favourite so I thought I may as well test it out for the this summer at only £1!

I needed a clear mascara for my brows after being constantly told by my brow queen Ella that I need to push them up with it each day. I’m on a quest for absolute super model brows, so I’ve been brushing them up constantly but this will just help them stay in place a little longer. Since the quality wasn’t really important for this, I just went for the £2.99 Miss Sporty clear mascara.

Next up, Maybelline New York – Master Ink in satin. This is a black liquid eyeliner. There was the choice between Matte and Satin and I had no clue if I’m honest but I went for Satin anyway which came in at £4.99. Also from Maybelline, the Baby Lips Dr Rescue in Coral Crave. I like to pop on some lip balm whilst I do my makeup in the morning and throughout the day, there’s nothing worse than flakey lips! I’ve had a Baby Lips already but it was a little too pink, this is pretty much clear and has a light tingling sensation!

Finally, the Real Techniques – Miracle Complexion Sponge. I’ve wanted one for a while but actually been using some I got from Primark which I do love! It’ll be interesting to test the two against each other. I will do this in another blog post to test whether price really does mean quality!

Today I had a lovely delivery of the Real Techniques Bold Metals which I’ve wanted for ages! A powder brush, blush brush and eye brush which also will be making an appearance on the blog, since they’re too pretty to miss!

What are your favourite drug store products or what high-end products could you simply not substitute?

HD Brows Review

I generally have 2 styles of eyebrows that I flick between. I either have overly-threaded brows by a lady in a little kiosk who nods at my ‘don’t do them thin’ yes goes on to thread to within an inch of life. Or there’s my ‘I’m growing them out’ phases which really means I’ve just not been in ages to get them done.

Neither style is ideal but after a bit of pencilling them in, they’ll do just fine. I dream of growing big fashiony brows like Cara Delevigne, but you have to work with what you’ve got!

One of my dear friends Ella is a HD Brow specialist with probably the best brows you’ll ever see (@EllaRavenscroft) and she persuaded me to let her loose on my own brows. At this point they’re in a mid-stage where they’ve not been threaded in a few weeks but they’re not wildly over-grown.

  Ella’s beautiful brows.
So, in the consultation phase, I discussed with Ella that I don’t want them dark, I like them as thick as possible and a good arch. She explained that whoever had been threading my brows had been absolutely butchering them and even trimmed them unevenly. I know brows are supposed to be ‘sisters, not twins’ but you want some sort of identification that they’re actually related.

Ella tinted, waxed, threaded and plucked my brows, leaving me nervous that there would be nothing left and telling her I’ll kill her if they’re really thin.

I couldn’t beleive my eyes when I looked in the mirror and my brows were somehow THICKER than before all the threading and waxing? Ella is a brow genius. They also look natural and not too dark but tidy and groomed.

I am officially converted.

To finish up, Ella told me I need to push up my right brow with Vaseline each day and in 12 weeks my rows will be more even, since my left one already grows upwards. I’ll track my progress on here! I’m looking forward to creating brows to rival Ella’s after a few more treatments! Contact her now if you want to transform your face too. @HDbrowsbyella

It’s been a glam few days for me, having my nails, brows and hair done so I’m feeling gooooood. What beauty treatments can you not go without?

Review: Bioxidea Cosmetics

I was so excited to receive this package, courtesy of Bioxidea Cosmetics. Inside came some amazing face masks, an eye and lip serum and a BB cream. The first thing I noticed was the gorgeous packaging in pretty pink shades!

I decided to wait a few days before trying out the products as I had a lot of photoshoots last week, where my hair and makeup was insane and I knew I’d need a pamper!

So the concept of the face masks, is that you lay it on your face for 15 minutes then drop it into your bath for it to work its magic on your entire body. The best way I can describe them is as jelly feeling, sort of clear with shimmery speckles. They’re moist and feel like they’re hydrating your skin.  They then leave a beautiful little shimmer in your bath, for a bit of extra luxury.

My favourite product is the BB cream. I was expecting a coverage too light to wear from day to night but I was so pleasantly surprised. The coverage is fantastic and it’s not shiney like many BB creams I’ve tried. I’ve been wearing this every day since I first tried it and it looks the exact same as my usual foundations but leaves the skin feeling soft and hydrated. This is so important for me at this time of year because I get such dry skin in the winter. I would recommend this to anyone, especially if you suffer dry skin but still want great coverage.

The final product is the eye and lip serum. It comes as a roll on and feels so refreshing as it has a cooling effect.

I have absolutely loved using these products and I’m certainly going to continue with them, especially the BB cream!

2015 Victoria’s Secret Show

Oh. My. Gosh. It’s feirce, it’s feminine, it’s glamorous and it’s the most anticipated show of the year. Last night, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2015 commended, with some jaw-dropping outfits and the worlds finest supermodels strutting their stuff down the runway.

Last year my boyfriend managed to pick me up a 2014 show makeup bag (that’s all that was left of the show gear!) and I loveeeee it. This year I will definitely be heading down to the store to pick up some show goodies!

VS is one of my favourite things in the world. I don’t think any other brand can ever quite compare. Here’s some of my FAVOURITE pics from the night.

November moodboard.

I’m finally starting to get into the Autumn/winter time of year, even though I’m a complete summer girl.

Here’s a few of my top picks for the month.

Mullberry and chunky knits, a match made in heaven.
It’s time to get the blankets out! I’m in love with chunky knitted blankets and throws.
‘Basically nude’ bras to keep secretly feminine under all of the baggy clothes and coats.   Cute silky PJs, all year round.
Particularly Victoria’s Secret ones.   Major hair envy.
Barely-there makeup with a dewy glow and a dab of glowy highlighter.

Illamasqua cream pigment for contouring.
Time to top up my MAC lipstick collection with a few warm autumn tones. The reds and purples are unreal.

Guilt free winter warmer – Matcha Green Tea Lattes.

Mocha thigh high boots are everywhere at the moment.

The 2015 Victoria’s Secret show IS TONIGHT. I’ve decided I’m prepping my body for the 2016 selections. A girl can dream….? Every female models ultimate goal.

What are you loving this season?

OGX hair products.

My hair has suffered so much over the years from over-processing on photoshoots, damage from scuba diving, years of bleaching….

I’ve recently had my roots slightly darker, fading down into the blonde really really subtly so that I can grow my roots down and avoid the damage of bleaching! Now my mission is to treat my hair the best I can to make it grow luscious and thick again. This includes avoiding brushing as much as possible and washing only every 2-3 days so my hair can rest and create natural oils! I found this picture which is my ultimate hair goals at the moment!

A while ago, my mum bought back some shampoo and conditioner that had been recommended to her. After looking at it, I realised it was the same brand as the coconut milk oil I had been using for years! I just remember being out shopping once and my hair felt dry so I randomly bought some pretty cheap oil (partly because I love coconut!) to stick on whilst I was out. And I actually fell in love. I do swear by it now and use it after every wash and between washes on dry hair if I need it, despite that not being on the instructions.

OGX coconut milk anti-breakage serum  contains coconut milk (obvs) and we all know that coconut is hailed as a massive beauty saviour. Also, egg white proteins – if they’re good enough for my diet, they’re good enough for my hair.

Ive now tried three of the different shampoos/conditioners they have on offer and my FAV are the  anti-breakage Keratin Oil ones. The keratin proteins and Argan oil leave my hair feeling luscious – not to mention the amazzzzze smell.

I do like the Argan Oil and Brazilian Keratin Smooth versions also but the pink is my ultimate.

There’s a whole massive range and you can find them in your local supermarkets, Boots or Superdrug and I’m sure many other retailers. All products are around £6-£7.

What hair products do you love? Swear by? Can’t live without? Let me know in the comments or tweet/Instagram me @heliemac1
