I’ve found the best thing about having a blog, is being able to look back upon previous posts and see how much things have changed over the years and months. Last year I posted my New Years Resolutions on here and truthfully I haven’t looked back on them since I wrote them so here’s a little look back and reflection on how the year panned out in comparison to how I planned it. I don’t think I could ever have predicted quite how it has turned out!
“I want to be able to run further and build more muscle.”
I’d say I pretty much smashed this on some level. By no means am I an athlete! I’m still not a fan of running but in the summer I took runs outside and right now I add some sprints on the treadmill before every workout. I’ve definitely gained muscle, my strength has increased massively and I’m enjoying a more weights based regime and the results it brings!
“I’m keeping my room perfectly immaculate and I want to continue that”
Uhmmmm. My mum or boyfriend might disagree with this because it does SOMETIMES get a little messy but I do tidy it all the time! I also mentioned that I want to throw away/donate the stuff I don’t use and I have kept on top of this, getting rid of all clothes and possessions I don’t use and I do recommend this to anyone. Nothing worse than a cluttered up room!
“This year I want to make time to practice yoga more”
This is the one I failed miserably at. I didn’t do yoga once until November, where I did it twice a week for about 3 weeks and then I’ve been too busy to go (or too lazy). I’m definitely going to get back into it in the New Year now as I was feeling the benefits! I’ve lost so much flexibility and I’m suffering from it so I will try my best with this one!
“This year I want to focus a lot of energy into my work life”
I’d say I’ve smashed this one too! It’s taken a bit of a detour to what I’d thought but I’m happy where I am in my career at the moment. I’ve become the makeup artist at Lusso Beauty Lounge in Wilmslow and I love it! I meet so many lovely clients and the staff are fab. I’ve changed my goals from last year but they’re still firmly in place. Modelling has taken a huge back seat for me. I still work, but not nearly as much and it’s not a focus. As I’ve got older, I’ve realised I want a more steady career as I want to save for a mortgage in the near future and when you have no idea what your wage will be from month to month that can be hard. I’m excited to see what next year brings work-wise.
“This year, I want to put my happiness first. Simple as that.”
This is easily the most poignant and important one. At the very start of the year I made a huge decision and put my happiness first and it’s turned out better than I ever thought in my wildest dreams.
I can wholeheartedly say this has been the BEST year of my entire life. In January, I met the most amazing man, and by February we were together and haven’t looked back since.
I’ve never crammed so much fun into one year! We visited Crete, Amsterdam and Prague, we have been to endless amazing restaurants, the zoo, walks, spa days, road trips singing in the car, London, adventures of all descriptions. We even completed a list we set out at the very start. There’s never been a dull moment or a case of ‘what shall we do today’ because we always find something to do. I’ve been treated like a Princess all year and the highlight of the year has 100% been meeting Ed as I think he made all the other things possible or better.
Also mentioned at the end of last years post was that we were expecting my sisters baby to make an appearance! The first day of the year marked the birth of Eliza and she’s a dream! Equally as exciting is that my sister is expecting again so this year will see the birth of another niece or nephew for me! (Christmas gets more expensive every year).
I’m looking forward to a night in Manchester with my boyfriend and his brothers and our friends to see the New Year in! Here’s to hoping that 2018 is as amazing as 2017 has been ❤️
I hope you all have a lovely Christmas and an exciting New Year, Hels xxx
