Missguided delivery!

I’m quite late to post tonight since I’ve been really busy studying for my final exams. Two weeks tomorrow and I will be freeeeee! I can then concentrate on my modelling and get myself prepared for Miss Scuba UK.

Tonight I went out with my family for my nephews 8th birthday so I wanted something really casual but still quite pretty. Thankfully my Missguided order arrived today so I stuck on a new top and my trusty Zara jeans with a pair of pointed courts.

Skinny Jeans: Zara

Top: Missguided.

I have wanted a top like this for ages so jumped at the chance when I saw this on Missguided with 25% student discount! I fell in love with the wrap detail and the long draping back.

I love anything in this sort of nude/pinky shade. The long sleeves are great for this time of year when it’s too warm to wear a coat, and too cold not to.

I finished the look with a delicate opal pendent, gold Michael Kors watch, natural makeup and bouncy curls.

I’m so looking forward to finishing my degree now, I’m definitely going to reward myself with some retail therapy. Can anyone recommend some sweet online boutiques?

One more day until the weekend…..

The Liebster Award

So, I was nominated by @giuliannaibo for ‘The Liebster Award’ …

The Liebster Award comes with a few rules:

  • Mention, thank and link the blog who nominated you
  • Answer the nominators 11 questions
  • Nominate a  few bloggers and link them below
  • Create 11 questions of your own for your nominated blogs to answer
  • Notify your nominees via social media

Here’s my questions and answers!

1. What is the dish that you cook best?

I think my boyfriend would say my Paleo Thai Fish Pie… it’s  so delicious and completely guilt free.

2.  Which one of your posts is your favourite one, why?

I’d probably say my post on Miss World as it offered an insight into beauty pageants that most people don’t know, and hopefully showed a different side to pageants than the stereotypical opinions.

3. What is the kindest thing someone has ever done for you?

This is such a hard one because I think people do ‘kind’ things each day but each different. From someone holding the door open, to receiving a nice gift. I can’t actually pin point the kindest!

4. Do you prefer going to the shops or shopping on-line, why?

I’d say going to the shops because I do prefer to try something on, an item can look sooooo different on a hanger! Plus, as a model I know how much the clothes can be manipulated on a model to make them look good on screen! We’re constantly nipped and tucked and smoothed…

5. Which Disney character would you be and why?

Probably Elsa as every time I wear my hair in a side braid people call me Elsa! Plus I’m a Princess. Obvs.

6. How do you come up with new ideas for your blog?

My blog has a bit of everything so I really just post what interests me, what’s on my mind, what I like, what I think others might enjoy learning about…

7. If you ever came across a Genie which would be your three wishes?

For myself and my loved ones to live happily forever, to stop pain and suffering across the world, to be a Victoria’s Secret Model!

8. What are you the most grateful for?

As cheesy as it is, I really am most grateful that I have an amazing network of family and friends that I know many others aren’t lucky enough to be blessed with.

9. What book would you recommend everybody to read?

The Fault in Our Stars was an amazing read for me. I read it on my iPad and highlighted some of my favourite quotes as I went through because it was so full of inspirational quotes. I found it much more inspiring than the film and couldn’t put it down!

10. If you could go back in time, what moment would you choose?

I think I’d go back to high school where me and my friends (2 naughties in particular!) had the most fun EVER! I would never dare do half of what we got up to in high school but I wouldn’t change a moment of it and would go back in a heart-beat to re live even one day of it.

11. What super power would you want and why?

Super Strength or Super Speed…. either way I’d love to shock people with it!

And the nominee’s are…..

1) e-k-w.blogspot.co.uk

2) https://simritadhillon.wordpress.com/

3) http://www.Samio.co.uk

4) http://mascaraontherun.com/

5) https://modernqueenabigail.wordpress.com/

Don’t feel obliged if you don’t fancy it!! But should you wish to, here’s your questions!

1) You have 1 million pounds to spend in ONE day… what do you spend it on?

2) If you could transport to any place on Earth right now, where would it be?

3) What’s your favourite thing about yourself and why?

4) What’s the first memory that pops into your head?

5) What’s your biggest fear?

6) Where do you see yourself in 10 years time?

7) What one thing are you most looking forward to in the coming year?

8) Do you prefer the country, or the city?

9) What made you start blogging?

10) What is your dream job if you could go into it straight away?

11) How would you describe ‘love’ ?

Good luck and I hope to read your answers soon!

Heel Envy.

They’re every woman’s best friend and worst enemy. They have us wobbling and stumbling like Bambi, but give us the elongated legs of a goddess. We may end a girls night out hobbling to the door from the pain of our 6 inch stillettos but it’s hard to deny how amazing you feel strutting in your favourite pair of heels.

I tend to be drawn to dainty strappy stillettos with a slim heel and they’re always neautral in colour! I find nude, blush and white are so flattering and match pretty much everything in my wardrobe. I tend to steer clear of black, in favour of lighter colours.

I recently stumbled accross a website that made me feel like all of my dreams had come true…. Jessica Buurman has one of the most amazing selections of shoes I think I’ve ever seen in one place. There’s such a huge range with an array of styles to suit every preference. What’s more – they’re offering 10% off to new customers and offer free worldwide delivery! I’m yet to place an order because there’s just too many to choose from… But the reviews are fantastic and the prices so reasonable, therefore I can’t wait!

Here’s a few of my Top Picks from the Jessica Buurman:

A twist on the classic nude courts. I love the cut out detailing on these.

This lace up style is so ‘Kimmy K’ and absolutely on trend this season. Everything is perfect about these from the colour to the cage detail and lace up front.   I adore this whimsical, girly design. They’re not something I’d usually wear but I would sit for hours just lusting after them, so pretty.

These are just ideal for me this season – snake print and lace up are two of my favourite styles   I love this edgy design and the Perspex detail and studded toes make these the perfect stand-out heel. Plus, who can say no to a red sole…. These are possibly my favourites as they give a nod towards my dream shoes – Louboutin Impera. The shape is the perfect blend of classic and modern, and the laser cut is delicately eye catching.

Christian Louboutin is easily the elite of all up-class shoe purveyors. The elegant curve and classic shapes are enough to make any shoe lover melt – add in a red sole and it’s instant shoe-heaven.

My Top Picks from Christian Louboutin:

The eptimome of luxury. These could dazzle from miles away.

These So Kate’s would match any outfit and add a touch of simplistic class.     These tan Pigalles are a wardrobe staple. They’d look so chic with a crisp white shirt and a pair of blue denim skinnies.   I adore the curvaceous silhouette and the sensual red of these scalloped beauties.   The ultimate for endlessly long legs: Lady Peep Patent.

The high street has some beautiful heels on offer that give everyone a chance to flaunt the designer look, on a high street budget.

My Top Pics from the high street:

Caged heels are one of my favourite designs this season and I love the gold detail on these River Island beauties.

I can’t decided which colour I like best! I love the sexy snake effect on these ones.   Zara never fails to amaze with their chic designs. I’m so glad fringe is back in – I had some sandals just like these when I was younger so this pair is so nostalgic to me.   Zara here gives us some thick strappy sandals that are so ideal for the summer.   I need these in my wardrobe. I wear a lot of white so these electric blue Zara lace ups would brighten up all of my outfits.   These Topshop heels are similar to a few of the others in this post, but I love the Grecian feel of these strappy sandals.   Super cute feather trim chunky strap sandals – thank you Topshop

Finishing off with some funky, mixed colour snake effect courts, again from Topshop – I LOVE.

I’m sure I’ve got you all wanting to go on a super mad shopping spree to stock your wardrobe with all of these designs and the millions of others available out there. The choices really are endless –  I know I could buy shoes each and every day.

Happy shopping!

Beauty Fad: Coconut Oil Pulling

When it comes to beauty products, treatments and procedures, I will try almost anything once. A huge craze at the moment is ‘oil pulling’ which is the process of swishing a teaspoon of coconut oil around your mouth for 20 minutes at a time.

Oil pulling, also known as “kavala” or “gundusha” is an ancient Ayurvedic dental technique that supposedly draws out toxins in your body to improve both oral and overall health. The recent trend seems to be more focused around the teeth whitening benefits but the additional benefits shouldn’t be overlooked.

Alleged benefits include:

  • Whiter teeth
  • Cavity prevention
  • Better breath
  • Stronger teeth and gums
  • Reduced jaw pain
  • Improved sleep and sinus issues
  • Headache relief
  • Hangover relief
  • Improved skin issues (acne, psoriasis and eczema)

Coconut oil is said to make a great substitute for mouthwash due to the antioxidant Vitamin E that it contains, and the anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties due to the lauric acid and monolaurin. There is little conclusive evidence to prove beyond doubt that oil-pulling really does have all the proposed benefits, however it absolutely wont do you any harm (unless you have an allergy to it – always test on a small patch of skin first!) so it’s certainly worth a try! Besides, there are many reports of people claiming to see amazing benefits from it.

white teeth

There are clashing views on how this should be done, with some claiming that it should be carried out each day for two weeks, some once a week and some once a fortnight. Some claim a tablespoon, some claim a teaspoon. Some claim you should swish for 10 minutes, some for 20. I currently oil pull less than I should to see the results, but I’m going to make a conscious effort to pull every 2 days or so, or at least each week if that fails. I use a teaspoon at a time; this is because it expands massively in your mouth as it gathers the toxins and saliva. I personally think any more than a teaspoon would just be too much!

I have recently read that you should swish with salt water immediately after, and then continue with brushing and flossing. Again, this differs from other reports that I’ve read which claim that this could damage the enamel on the teeth. I’m going to try it this time and see how I feel with it.

My Technique:

  • Place one teaspoon of coconut oil in my mouth (it begins hard but melts after a few seconds from the heat of your mouth)
  • Set a timer for 20 minutes
  • Swish until the end of the timer
  • Dispel into the bin (it can solidify and block your drains if dispelled down the sink)
  • Swish for 30 seconds with warm, lightly salted water
  • Brush and Floss

I personally find that my teeth seem more white and shiny immediately after pulling, so I’m quite looking forward to how my teeth will look after I’ve pulled more often. I lead a healthy lifestyle with other detoxifying methods like drinking green tea and lemon water daily so I’m unsure on the positive effects of drawing out toxins and detoxifying but I would love to hear from you if you’ve tried and noticed anything!

Coconut oil is such a wonderful product because it has so many uses! I often cover my hair in it and leave it to soak in for a few hours for a natural hair treatment. I also cook with it and use it as lip balm or on dry skin. If you’ve not jumped on the hype yet, I would seriously recommend it! I personally love the taste of coconut but of course some might not- but honestly you can’t taste it when you cook with it!

vita coco

My suggestion is that you don’t spend your money on these sachets of oil that are currently on the market. The only difference they have is the added flavour (mint, lemon, vanilla etc) but they retail at £19.99 for 14 sachets. I use Vita Coco which costs £5 – £7 and can be found online or in your local Tesco – this would contain months and months of oil pulling at a fraction of the price than the sachets! Let me know in the comments if you have tried it and how you found it – and also if you have any extra tips for me!

Behind The Scenes: ModelWorx Shoot

I’m going to make a conscious effort to post more about model life on here, and show you guys some behind the scenes pictures of what I’m up to!

I’ve been modelling since I was about 15 after getting scouted and now my degree is almost complete, I can focus more on my modelling career with my amazing agency Nemesis.

So today I was shooting at ModelWorx Middleton with Nikki Lyons photographing, Georgina Willmore on the styling and Sarah McNiell on the makeup.  Such a fab team!

Check out the gorgeous makeup! Courtesy of Sarah McNiell (Miss Flawless).

The shoot had a 90’s Clueless Style and I adoreeeeed the clothes! This included some cute bralets and pleated skirts and adorable fluffy heels!

Check out the fluffy heels ❤

Roller Skates and little PJ’s ❤

I just love this little BTS shot! I seriously wanted to take this guy home with me ❤

I can’t wait to get the real images back and I know Georgina is going to have some fabulous editions for her book! Also, big thanks for letting me take home the Calvin Klein bralet! (Model perk!). This girl is one to look out for in styling – total fashionista.
